The Back Door Bar & Grille is located at 1250 Bardstown Road, adjacent to the Mid City Mall in the heart of the picturesque Highlands neighborhood in Louisville, KY. For driving directions, please try Mapquest. As a reviewer in LEO noted, the Back Door is "one of Louisville’s favorite after-work, meet–my-friends, meet-strangers, game-of-pool, bag-of-wings, one-more-stop-before-home watering holes." The Back Door is owned and operated by John Dant, who purchased the building from Tom and Linda Clemons in 1987. The 5,000-square-foot bar and lounge previously served as a warehousing and storage facility for the nearby A&P Grocery. The patio area was a loading and unloading dock for the store. Our establishment is open seven days a week from 4 p.m. until 4 a.m., and is strictly a "21 and over" bar. ID's are checked. Our bar staff includes Bar Manager Carrie, Dave, Marianne, Cindy, and Chris. The kitchen staff includes Chef Kat. We take great pride in the fact that Carrie, Dave, Cindy and Marianne have been with The Back Door for over 20 years. The owners and
employees take great pride in the Back Door's reputation of being one of
the friendliest bars in Louisville. Long-time customers, newcomers and
out-of-town visitors can relax and mingle in a casual and cordial
atmosphere. With 10 high definition television monitors, the Back Door is a favorite of local fans of the University of Louisville and University of Kentucky. A spacious arcade room includes some of the most popular contemporary games, including Golden Tee Video Golf, Foosball, Darts and other favorites, as well as ample seating. Other offerings include counter video games in the main bar area. The Back Door
has a separate
pool
room with high quality
pool tables that are carefully maintained
and
well lighted. A total of 6 tables are available for individual
play, competition or for special
parties. We also
operate the Metro Pool League. Competition is held on Monday evenings,
starting at
7:30.
